Good news, BC! With the long weekend come and gone we can officially celebrate warmer days ahead. It may have been a bit wet and rainy across our province this May, but that just means that as we head towards summer, we get to spend more time outdoors enjoying warm sunshine and delicious turkey snacks and meals!

When it comes to fresh recipes for outdoor gatherings, pool parties, and backyard bashes this season, we have the perfect lineup of grillable turkey thighs, wings, and drumsticks. There’s nothing better than busting out your barbecue for the first social of the year and providing delicious, nutritious food for your family and friends.

When we eat well and sustain our body with proper nutrition, this also ensures better mental wellness. Since May is mental health awareness month, we here at BC Turkey want to encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy a nutritious meal with those who matter most. Community is so important and we can’t wait for turkey to become a part of your spring.

And as always we will continue to support all of our lovely 62 registered turkey farmers. By choosing locally-sourced, safe BC products you also support our local agricultural sector, strengthening our province and community ties. A big part of setting #AConsicousTable is always choosing BC ingredients—the closer it grows, the better you can trust it’s fresh, safe, and sustainable!

Turkey Thighs

For every 100g of turkey thigh you get a whopping 28g of pure protein. While dark meat isn’t as lean as the breast, it’s still packed full of nutrients and minerals that not only add to our overall physical health but our mental wellness as well.

When we eat well, we live well.

This May, consider grilling up some tasty turkey thigh recipes with a variety of global flavours like tandoori spices, some classic Korean barbecue, or a bit more fruit-forward apricot glaze. No matter what you pick, they’re full of moist, juicy meat thanks to turkey thigh’s natural dark meat. Overall, turkey has a neutral flavour, meaning it expertly goes with whatever spices and herbs you want!
