Turkey Lasagna

Raj Thandi
Is there anything more comforting than a cheesy lasagna in the winter? We don’t think so! This version was made by Raj Thandi (@pinkchai) for BC Turkey. She loves using ground turkey thighs in lasagna because they adds a really deep flavour and as a bonus, turkey is packed with high quality protein.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • ¾ cup carrot, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • ½ cup celery, chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 jar marinara sauce (approx. 2-3 cups)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 9 lasagna noodles, oven-ready
  • ½ cup alfredo/white sauce
  • 3 cups cheese

Instructions

  • Make the meat sauce. Start by warming olive oil, and then saute the onions, carrots, celery, and garlic for 5 minutes. Add in the ground turkey, cook for another 10 minutes, and then add the mushrooms. Top up with marinara sauce and seasonings. Cook for 15 minutes on low heat. Stir occasionally.
  • Boil the lasagna noodles and toss with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  • Layer the lasagna alternating between white sauce, noodles, meat sauce, and cheese.
  • Bake cover at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes. Uncover and broil on low for 5-7 minutes.
